Newsr exists to make important stories clearer. Our reporting begins with verifiable facts, identifies the evidence behind a claim and explains what remains uncertain. These standards apply to staff-written, commissioned and automation-assisted work published on Newsr.
Verification and sourcing
We aim to confirm consequential claims with at least two credible sources whenever the evidence permits. Primary materials—including government notices, court filings, regulatory documents, company disclosures, peer-reviewed research and direct public statements—take priority over summaries. Secondary reporting is attributed and linked to the specific page supporting the claim.
Newsr does not treat a search-results page, generic homepage, image URL or unattributed social post as evidence. Figures are dated, units are stated and estimates are identified as estimates. Headlines must not claim more certainty than the underlying reporting supports.
The Reframed approach
A Reframed article separates what happened from what it means. Where useful, it also explains practical consequences, competing interpretations, public perspectives and the next verifiable milestone. We omit sections when reliable evidence is unavailable rather than filling them with speculation.
Health, finance and other high-stakes topics
Health coverage distinguishes association from causation and identifies study design, population and important limitations. It does not replace individual medical advice. Finance coverage separates reported facts from market interpretation and does not present general reporting as personalized investment, tax or legal advice.
Corrections and updates
Readers may report a possible error to [email protected] or through our contact page. We review the supporting evidence, correct material errors promptly and update the article when facts change. Substantive corrections or changes are disclosed in the article. Minor spelling, formatting and clarity edits may be made without a correction note.
Authors, expertise and accountability
Every reported article carries a byline linked to an author page describing the writer’s coverage area. Editors are responsible for the accuracy, sourcing and presentation of published work. A byline does not remove Newsr’s institutional responsibility for corrections.
Use of automation and artificial intelligence
Newsr may use software and AI-assisted tools for research organization, transcription, topic discovery, draft preparation, metadata, image discovery and quality checks. Automation does not remove the requirement to use identifiable sources or to distinguish fact from uncertainty. Articles must pass publication checks for sourcing, duplication, unsupported claims, headline accuracy, images and category assignment.
AI-generated editorial illustrations must not be presented as documentary photographs of real events. When an image is generated or materially synthesized, its caption or metadata should identify it as an illustration where a reader could otherwise misunderstand its origin.
Images and embedded media
Images must be relevant to the named person, place, event or concept. We seek an appropriate license or source record, avoid watermarked previews and do not knowingly use manipulated media as documentary evidence. Social posts and videos are embedded only when they add direct context and their authenticity can be reasonably established.
Public reaction
A highly upvoted comment or viral post is not a representative opinion poll. When Newsr discusses public reaction, we identify the platform, available engagement figures and the limits of the sample. We do not invent consensus or publish private personal information.
Sponsored and commercial content
Paid or sponsored material must be clearly labeled. Commercial relationships do not allow an advertiser to alter independent reporting or remove a supported criticism. Paid links use appropriate sponsored or nofollow attributes. Newsr does not sell undisclosed editorial endorsements.
