News, reframed.
Newsr is an independent English-language publication built for readers who want more than the first version of a story.
What we do
Newsr reports on the stories shaping money, business, technology, health and everyday life. We start with the facts, then add the context that is often missing: expert evidence, primary sources, practical consequences and the perspectives people bring to the conversation.
Our aim is not to make every story louder. It is to make it clearer.
Why “Reframed”?
Most news answers the immediate question: what happened? Newsr also asks what the story means, who it affects, what is still uncertain and where public reaction differs from the headline.
A Newsr Reframed story may begin with a report from another outlet, but it does not end there. We review the underlying claims, seek direct and credible sources, identify the relevant expertise and explain the competing viewpoints fairly. Attribution is part of the work, not an afterthought.
Our editorial principles
- Evidence before certainty. We distinguish confirmed facts, informed analysis and unresolved questions.
- Context over repetition. We add value instead of simply restating a viral claim or press release.
- Clear attribution. We identify meaningful sources and link readers to the material behind our reporting where possible.
- Community perspective, responsibly handled. Public reaction can reveal what a story misses, but it never replaces evidence.
- Corrections matter. If we get something wrong, we correct the record clearly and promptly.
Our home
Newsr.org has existed online since 2002. Today, Newsr is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, United States—a city shaped by reinvention, industry, culture and strong opinions. That spirit informs how we approach the news: curious, direct and unwilling to settle for the obvious angle.
Who writes for Newsr
Our stories are produced by category-focused editors and contributors. Each author profile explains that writer’s editorial focus and links to their latest work. For health, finance and other high-impact subjects, we aim to rely on primary guidance and qualified sources; complex claims may require additional expert review.
